Acadia, Maine

December 15, 2018

Acadia seems to hold a special place in so many people’s hearts. One of the closest parks to many major cities on the East Coast, it seems a world away from the hectic energy of New York City and Boston.

It’s wave-battered, pink granite coastline, rugged forests, and crystalline blue waters feel like the perfect antidote to city life, and that was part of the park’s intended purpose when it was created.

Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak in the park, is the first place to view the sunrise in the United States for much of the year. For my trip, bad weather didn’t allow for much of a sunrise, but I was lucky enough to watch the sun set as it glittered across the soft hills and glowing inlets until it faded into the sea.
